WiFi Signal: Status Monitor App Reviews

all information at your fingertip

Great app, exactly what I wanted, showing all relevant information about your wifi connection.

Great update to a great power tool

A great update to Wifi Signal. Adrian Granados understands well what users appreciate in this tool and continues to give us ways to get the most out of it for our personal needs.

Similar issues that others have around channel recommendations

I downloaded and installed the WiFi Signal app today, specifically because I wanted the channel recommendation functionality. Once up and running, the app recommends that I choose channel 161 for my 5GHz network. Once I configured my router to use that channel, it now recommends that I use channel 153. I reconfigured my router again - now it’s recommending that I go back to channel 161! Consequently, the signal strength indicator has a triangle-exclamation symbol permanently. Seems kind of useless since it’s not indicating any helpful information.

Excellent app to keep track of your WiFi signal quality

I’ve been using this app to keep track of my SNR, wireless speed & channel association and quite frankly really impressed. The level of details, logging and the notifications makes this a breeze. I was never sure if I was using the 2.4GHz or the 5GHz networks before using this app, now I know exactly when it switches between them and which one is active. Would definitely buy this again without thinking about it twice.

New version took this app to the next level

Outstanding update with customization and useful access to event logging.

Love it!!

I have been using this app for about two weeks now. I have a number of applications that monitor the WiFi environment, however, none of the others provide the kind of information that I find useful. WiFi Signal appears to be very accurate and it gives me instant and continual information about the state of my network that I wasn’t able to get from the other apps I tried. Kudos to the developer as his app has found a grateful home on my network equipment.

Misleading results

This app doesn’t estimate speed correctly for latest Apple Extreme Base Station. Although signal is weak in this section of my home I get 60 Mb/sec download throughput using Ookla SpeedTest. This app estimates about 1/5 of that speed. Boosting the signal by extending through and older base station increases the speed estimate within the app. However, SpeedTest results are 1/3 of those without extending signal. I need to look into how to get a refund.

Nice little app

i use several apps to keep my home LAN up and running (despite the viscissitudes of Comcast Cable). This one tells me the signal strength at the location of the MacBook on which the app is installed, which neither of the other two apps I use (Fing and Speedtest) can do. I guess someone someday will write the ultimate complete app for LAN maintenance, and possibly it already exists for commercial use ($$$). In the meantime, these three work for me. Interestingly, I have discovered that the WD “My Passport for Mac” that I use for backup generates a <lot> of RF noise, as indicated on WiFi Signal. If you use external backup drives and are having trouble with LAN issues, you may wish to run this app to see how much RF noise the external hard drive is making. I now backup episodically and leave the WD drive disconnected most of the time.

Works well, easy to use, worth the small price.

Now, when my wife complains that her I-PAD is running a bit slower than usual, I can easily (and quickly) scan our Wi-Fi network to look at signal strength on our various frequencies (channels). It is a valuable analysis tool, with a “small price to pay”. Anything that is R.F. (Radio Frequency) is not immune from interference, no matter the security and encryption … and signal strength can and will vary, based on outside interference. It maybe somthing as simple as a new neighbor that is set to the your frequency … or even moving furniture between you and your router (like a steel table) that may effect your signal strength. This program sure beats trying to guess and “shotgunning” to try and find a solution. And guess what? Knowledge is a good thing, and this will help save time and possibly money by providing a potential alternative solution! Sincerely, Phil

Great for quick tuning or as menu item replacement

Great highly customizable UI, exactly what I wanted for a more advanced wifi menu. Well-maintained, too.

good utility

I have been using this for awhile now. Does exactly what I need. Has helped find issues I have had with other apps.

Great App! Small footprint. Does Exactly what it says.

Clear, easy to use and read. Small, tight app uses little in the way of resources.

Great on my MacBook Pro, very good on my Mac Mini

This app gives me all the information on the wifi signal in my house. Definitely worth the download and the price.

Does what it says .. nice!

Great little app. The information on the tool bar is very useful.

just buy it

Its a great little app, gives a lot of insight into the current state wifi environment, good for troubleshooting basic problems and nice configuration capability. Author puts out updates regularly. I have a lot of IT experience and this is one of the best IOS utilities I’ve seen. But anyone who uses a Mac on wifi regularly will find it useful.

Extremely useful.

When you need to troubleshoot your WiFi and find the best channel on which to put your network, this little app is invaluable.

have several this works best

A great program that gives you all the necessary info to find, choose and manage your wifi networks. I have downloaded several apps to do this but after almost a year -this one is clearly the best product. Very useful and straight forward.

I love this app

Buying this app finally pushed me to move my wifi set up, because it was obvious where the gaps in my signal were. now my patio has strong service so my music never drops out. if you like tweaking your systems you will love having this little app. two world - Bra-Vo

How do I change the channel?

The best potential feature of this app is to alert when a certain channel would give a stronger connection at a given time. I get the alert, but have never been able to figure out how to change to the suggested channel. It would be great if you could click on the yellow “!” roadsign icon and it would instruct the user how to changee the channel. That’s the whole point of it, right?
