WiFi Signal: Status Monitor App Reviews

Great little App

Hi folks, I’m an electrical engineer, mostly retired now, but I still run a little ad and do 1-2, sometimes even 3 gigs per week! I have been doing this since 1979 and have seen and used many tech apps. This little app is great! Its inexpensive and at a glance tells me a lot for helping my customers quickly with their home and small business networks. It’s been a stable app with no surprises for the 7 or so months since I discovered this app and their other one, the Wifi Explorer. I wish I had found this gem before, but having been mostly retired and sleepy, I don’t get out as much as I used to for network issues! Ross

Surprisingly Useful

I didnt come in with much expectation considering Mac OS has a lot of wireless information already available in it. However, within minutes I realized how cool and helpful this little application is. A constant display of my signal % is now shown in my Menu Bar and I was pleasantly surprised at the customization options available to display as little or as much as Id like.

Does what it claims to do

WiFi Signal gives a useful readout so you know the AP to which you are connected, the modulation rate, and the 802.11 protocol that is connected. Popup alerts about which AP/SSID you are connected to are useful to make sure you are on the right network. A good value and useful appl.

WiFi Signal app

It gives a quick sense of what the ether in you area is like. Works fine in this limited role. My complaint is that Ive replaced its functionality with more capable tools and, although I zotz the app, the next check for update insists on updating/installing it. Hence, like the proverbial cat, the app comes back the very next day, it just cant stay away. I used it for a while, I didnt marry it. Id like to bid it merci and adieu.

excellent application

This application is so useful in traveling. I can find the fastest connection spot in airports. Locally, there are many xfinity wireless connections, that are open to COMCAST customers - like myself. Looking at the signal strength, usually POOR when connecting, I can generally use WiFi signal to locate the direction to move to get a GOOD connection. INVALUABLE for me when I am not at home or work.

Great utility but wish it supported IPv6

So close to being the ultimate set of information for debugging. Please add IPv6 address(es) to the dropdown detailed information.

Really useful

I really like this app. It help me tremedously sort things out on a “noisy” environment and figure out what the best strategy was to improve my WiFi entwork efficiency. I couldn’t have done it without it.

Great Little App

I’ve been using this app a couple of years now. I installed it when I started working from home full time - before everyone in the neighborhood had wifi and range extenders. It’s been extremely useful in helping me both avoid and troubleshoot connectivity issues. Being able to determine at a glance whether it’s a signal issue/wifi issue or something else has saved me hours of pain.

Freeze one over two times

… uninstalled.

nice and simple

Does what the Apple Airport menu bar should: display the signal strength. This app shouldnt need to exist. But as things are how they are, thanks to the dev for making it. His more complete "wifi explorer" is also nice.

Worthless app

Hi, I am very disappointed. This application can only scan the wifi network you are connected to. It doesnt allow you to see which channel is free to optimize you connection ! Worthless for me.

No fonctionnal app

This app dont give the channel info to have a best connection… The picture is a fake. Ils no helping us to choose the best channel.

A must have

I’ve tested a lot of utilities but this one is great and the updates keep enhancing it to better and better. You have a much better idea on the quality of the wifi signal received by your mac than if you rely on the Apple icon (which is a lot more optimistic than normal, haven’t you noticed ? You have 4 bars and you don’t have any traffic…). So you can know precisely where to put your router in order to have the best connection home. Moreover, this great piece of software can tell you if the channel used for your wifi connection is used by many other routers in the neighborhood or not. And if so, it will advise you a channel less crowded to use. This is simply the only software I couldn’t live without now that I know it (and no I’m not affiliated in any kind with the author…)

Seems a helpful tool...

… but unfortunately it’s in Spanish and I can’t find a possibility to change the language to English. That’s really a pity because I’m not able to understand the spanish language. Thanks for changing this in advance - and more languages will be a nice option too! (And I’ll give you 5* then…)

Very nice...

… it shows more information than the MacOS own tool for WIFI connections. I like

Thank you for this lil piece of software, Adrian!

Thank you for this lil piece of software, Adrian! I use it on all of my PowerBooks and love it’s tiny usefulness :-) :-) Greetings by Marlene, #marlenebitzer

Very useful tool

Thank you, the app helps a lot to analyse problems with poor signal quality. Keep on the good work.

excellent and useful

Great WiFi monitoring app, excellent real time overview… especially useful for diagnosing if youve got router connection issues...
